Princess Auto Catalogue Cover Contest Illustration
“Rad Dad”
In celebration of the 85th Anniversary, Princess Auto's held a catalogue cover design contest open to all residents of Canada. The theme was "vintage" and artists were asked to design a cover in any medium. Out of 881, my design entitled "Rad Dad" was selected as the winning entry. My concept as inspired by my 80's childhood as it is filled with objects and memories from those days. The artwork is all vector, created using Adobe Illustrator. Overall the design has a classic and simplistic colour palette of blue and orange with a dot/line screen layer to give it a comic book/vintage texture. There is also layer to mimic a “slightly out of registration” printing. Thank you Princess Auto for the opportunity!
